"El pingüino que habla pingüino" student book reviews the colors, numbers up to 100 and previously taught greetings. It reviews basic questions, commands and introduces essential language structures needed for basic communication including: "Habla, sabe, aprende, juega, gana, le da, le pide, puede and toma", while reviewing grammatical structures taught in previous workbooks.
In addition, it reviews formulaic expressions including: How are you? What are you called? How old are you? and discusses school life and sports in Spanish speaking countries.
This workbook is recommended for students in 4th grade after completing "Comida en el ombligo" workbook (second semester of the school year).
There are four illustrated short stories in the workbook that allows students to practice reading in Spanish. Furthermore, there are several formats of written activities throughout the workbook, including a blank space where students can draw and write the stories created in class. Lastly, as part of a cultural activity, students discuss life at school and sports in Spanish-speaking countries.
